‘Tis the Season to be Giving

Can’t believe that the year 2013 is about to be over? Everyone is busy going Christmas shopping and/or participating in toy drives or giveaways. Charity events are great but what I don’t understand is why people in the same vicinity don’t have one event instead of 20 different events for the same purpose. If the real goal is to help families meet their needs, then why not join forces and have one huge event.

I believe we are powerful when we have unity in the community. Guess everyone wants to be acknowledged for his or her services, but the real gratitude is when the child’s face lights up after opening a toy. As Deepak Chopra stated, “Serving others serves me.” What a true statement to live by? Giving makes us feel happy. It is good for our health. It makes us connect with other like-minded people. Giving is contagious too. Stop thinking about your own needs, and think about families that are suffering.

On Sunday, December 22nd, The Kareem D. Sapp Foundation Inc. will be hosting a toy giveaway with others, including me to support the community’s needs by handing out toys to needy families. If you would like to make monetary donations, please make checks or money orders out to: The Kareem D. Sapp Foundation Inc. and send it to: PO Box 5761, Hempstead, New York 11551-5761. Thanks for your support in advance!

Happy holidays to all! Love, peace and blessings! ❤
